Leadership & Service Page
Leadership in my life is less about titles and more about stewardship. As a father, technician, disciple, and community member, I have learned that true leadership is service, visibility when needed, and quiet faithfulness when no one is watching.
Leadership in Fatherhood and Daily Discipleship
Fatherhood is one of my most sacred leadership roles. My children watch how I respond to challenges, how I pray, how I work, and how I treat others. Daily routines such as family prayer, cooking together, homework, and small projects (like repairing an iPhone battery with my kids) are chances to teach resilience, curiosity, and faith.
I try to lead by example: keeping commitments, apologizing when I fall short, and inviting my children to use their agency wisely. This has taught me that leadership is often quiet, steady, and patient. It also continues to refine my own discipleship as I seek guidance from Heavenly Father on how to protect and strengthen my family.
A team from Church Headquarters once visited our home to film a short video about fatherhood. They captured real moments of our life together, including praying, cooking, playing soccer, and working on small repairs. The video uses my voice as I share how my love for my children helps me understand, in a small way, the love that Heavenly Father has for me.

Early Academic Leadership – Institut Universitaire de Technologie FOTSO Victor (IUT-FV)
During my years at the Institut Universitaire de Technologie FOTSO Victor (IUT-FV), I was entrusted with several leadership responsibilities that shaped my confidence, public presence, and ability to represent others. These experiences helped develop my capacity to lead councils, communicate with administrators, and serve as a bridge between students and institutional leadership.
As a student leader, I had opportunities to collaborate directly with university officials, help organize events, and represent my classmates during key academic and civic activities. These moments strengthened my understanding of responsibility, humility, and service-based leadership.
Highlights of Leadership at IUT-FV
-
Served as a Class Representative (Délégué de Classe) and later as Delegate of Delegates (Délégué des Délégués).
-
Represented students at ceremonies and formal events involving university leadership.
-
Supported communication between students, faculty, and administration.
-
Demonstrated leadership in both academic and civic contexts.

Civic & Moral Leadership (Cameroon – Réarmement Moral Workshop)
Initiative pour le Réarmement Moral – Student Representative (Yaoundé, Cameroon)
During my studies at the IUT-FV of the University of Dschang, I was selected as one of the student representatives to participate in a national workshop on Réarmement Moral (Moral Re-Armament / Initiatives of Change) in Yaoundé. The program brought together leaders, educators, and youth representatives to explore principles of moral leadership, civic responsibility, integrity, and community reconciliation.
Notable figures in attendance included Professor Adamou Ndam Njoya, a nationally respected statesman and intellectual, as well as Professor Victor Anomah Ngu, one of Cameroon’s most distinguished medical researchers and former Minister of Public Health. Their teachings and mentoring left a deep impression on me.
This workshop strengthened my understanding of leadership rooted in moral clarity, service, and personal accountability. It helped form my early convictions about ethical decision-making — convictions that continue to shape my professional work, my community engagement, and my discipleship.
This experience also established bonds with fellow student representatives from around the country, all committed to building stronger communities through moral and civic responsibility.

Technical Leadership at Work – WMATA
As a Lead Mechanical–Electrical–Communications Technician at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), I help support systems that millions of passengers rely on.
My leadership responsibilities include:
-
Coordinating crews during preventive and corrective maintenance
-
Troubleshooting complex communications and electrical issues under time pressure
-
Documenting work accurately in MAXIMO and communicating findings to supervisors
-
Mentoring newer technicians and sharing practical troubleshooting strategies
-
Working across departments to restore service safely and efficiently
This role has taught me that technical leadership requires calm thinking, clear communication, and a strong sense of responsibility for public safety. It is a daily reminder that small decisions can have large consequences for riders, coworkers, and the organization.
Church Callings and Spiritual Service
Church service has helped me see leadership as a moral and spiritual responsibility. I have served in callings that involve ministering to individuals and supporting local leaders, including:
-
Ward Assistant Executive Secretary – supporting the bishopric with scheduling, follow up, and coordination
-
Ward Temple and Family History Consultant – helping members discover and honor their ancestors
-
Ministering assignments – visiting, listening, and offering spiritual and practical support
These roles invite me to listen carefully, respect confidentiality, and support others in their spiritual journeys. They remind me that leadership means lifting quietly and pointing people toward Christ.

Community and Board Service
I am grateful for opportunities to serve in community and cultural organizations. These experiences have expanded my perspective and strengthened my sense of civic responsibility.
-
Board Member, Friday Night Dancers (FND) – supporting an organization that provides inclusive community dance events and opportunities for people to connect in healthy, uplifting ways.
-
Board Member and Dance Chair, Folklore Society of Greater Washington (FSGW) – helping preserve and share folk traditions, music, and dance in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
-
Supporting events, outreach, and collaborative projects that help people feel welcome, seen, and included.
Serving on boards has taught me how to work in councils, consider diverse viewpoints, and make decisions that balance individual needs with long-term vision.
Health, Teams, and Example
After receiving medical warnings about high BMI, high A1C, and related risk factors, I chose to make deliberate, disciplined changes in my lifestyle. Sports and movement became a way not only to improve my health, but also to live with greater purpose, consistency, and example for my children and community.
Participating in team sports taught me accountability, preparation, humility, and the importance of building environments where people uplift and strengthen each other.

Leadership Principles I Strive to Live
Across work, church, community, and home, I try to guide my leadership by a set of principles:

Integrity
Doing the right thing even when it is inconvenient, unseen, or misunderstood. Keeping my word and being honest about limitations and mistakes.
Service
Seeing leadership as an opportunity to lift, protect, and strengthen others rather than to seek status.
Stewardship
Treating people, systems, and responsibilities as trusts from God that require care, accountability, and diligence.

Courage
Acting when needed, even when outcomes are uncertain, and being willing to stand alone with kindness when principles are at stake.
Listening
Taking time to understand people, context, and quiet impressions from the Spirit before making decisions.
Growth
Continually learning from feedback, mistakes, and new experiences, and helping others grow with me.
Leadership and service continue to evolve in every chapter of my life. Whether in a control room, a classroom, a church meeting, a board discussion, on a soccer field, or at home with my children, I hope to lead in ways that reflect faith, compassion, and responsibility.
