Week 6 – Finalization & Presentations
This page gathers my final work for IT 497 – Professional Growth Portfolio (Week 6): my spiritual and professional action plan, a reflective essay, and a summary of the peer review process. Together, these sections show how my Spiritual Progression Portfolio and Professional Growth Portfolio have come together into one coherent story.
1. Action Plan for Ongoing Spiritual and Professional Growth

Overall, this action plan helps me see my path more clearly. My goal is not only to become a capable IT professional, but also to remain a trusted disciple of Jesus Christ in every environment where I serve.
2. Reflective Essay – Alignment, Growth, and Future Use
Building my Spiritual Progression Portfolio and Professional Growth Portfolio has shown me that my life is made of many chapters, but they all belong to one story. That story runs from childhood crafts in rural Cameroon, through engineering education, immigration, employment, fatherhood, health challenges, and spiritual conversion, into my present efforts as an IT student and working professional.
At the beginning of this course, my main goal was to “create a portfolio.” As the weeks progressed, that goal deepened into something much more meaningful. I began to see this portfolio as a living record of how the Lord has guided my path and how my choices, both spiritual and professional, are connected.
Spiritually, I learned to pay more attention to warning signs and invitations from the Spirit. Moments when I ignored those warnings and later had to repent became important lessons in humility and growth. I now recognize that Christlike attributes—such as courage, integrity, patience, and charity—belong not only in church settings but in technical work, documentation, deadlines, and collaboration.
Professionally, this course helped me see the value of my journey as a technician, embedded systems developer, transit worker, and IT student. Instead of seeing my history as disconnected pieces, I now see a pattern: solving problems, building systems, caring for people, and striving to honor covenants. This realization increased my confidence and helped me organize my experience into meaningful projects and leadership stories.
The feedback I received from peers and from my teacher helped me refine both how I present my story and how I structure my portfolio. I improved my navigation, added visuals, clarified sections, and highlighted the link between my spiritual principles and my technical work. This process reminded me that good design is also a form of respect for the people who will read and evaluate my work.
Going forward, I plan to use this portfolio as:
-
A personal record of my spiritual and professional journey
-
A tool to present my experience to potential employers or collaborators
-
A reminder of the principles and covenants I want to honor in every environment
-
A foundation that I can keep updating as I complete new projects and callings
In summary, this portfolio has become more than an assignment. It is a witness of how the Lord has walked with me through challenges and growth, and how He continues to shape my character as I move forward in my education and career.
3. Peer Review Summary – Giving and Receiving Feedback
As part of Week 6, I participated in the peer review process by reviewing the Spiritual Progression Portfolio and Professional Growth Portfolio of a classmate, and by receiving feedback on my own work.
3.1 Feedback I Provided
In my review of my classmate’s portfolios, I focused on:
-
Clarity and organization of navigation and sections
-
Strength of the spiritual narrative and personal reflections
-
How well projects were explained (role, impact, technologies, lessons learned)
-
Visual balance, spacing, and readability
-
Opportunities to deepen the connection between faith and professional practice
I also shared insights about parts of his experience that inspired me, and asked questions to invite further reflection. My goal was to be honest, kind, and specific so that my feedback could be truly useful.
3.2 Feedback I Received
The feedback I received from peers and my instructor helped me see my portfolio more clearly from the outside. Suggestions included:
-
Improving clarity in some page titles and menu labels
-
Breaking up long sections with headings and whitespace
-
Adding more visuals and artifacts to support project descriptions
-
Strengthening the links between my spiritual story and technical projects
-
Ensuring that navigation works smoothly on both desktop and mobile devices
3.3 Changes I Implemented
Based on this feedback, I:
-
Refined my main navigation and added a Reflections section
-
Improved spacing, headings, and visual structure to support readability
-
Expanded my Leadership & Service page to include more concrete examples
-
Reorganized projects by IT relevance and added clearer summaries
-
Updated my spiritual and professional narratives to make their connection more explicit
The peer review process reminded me that improvement often comes through counsel, collaboration, and a willingness to be vulnerable. It prepared me to receive and give constructive feedback in my future career.
4. Closing Thoughts – Culmination and Next Steps
Week 6 represents a culmination of my efforts in this course, but not an ending. My Spiritual Progression Portfolio and Professional Growth Portfolio will continue to evolve as I move toward graduation, new responsibilities at work, and future callings in the Church.
This week helped me see that my story is still being written. The same principles that shaped my childhood in Cameroon, my engineering studies, my immigration journey, my work at WMATA, my health transformation, and my conversion to the restored gospel are the principles that will guide my future:
-
Faith in Jesus Christ
-
Resilience and effort
-
Integrity and stewardship
-
Love for family and community
-
Service-oriented leadership
I move forward with a clearer vision of who I am becoming: a capable and trusted disciple of Jesus Christ who uses technology, leadership, and service to bless the lives of others.
